I bought this house after my mother passed away a couple of years ago and I moved up from New York to this small town in Maine to live here and be close to my family. They was the house that my Mom and Dad worked like dogs to fix up ... it was one of those rambling shambles that they lovingly made beautiful. They opened up the rooms where it made sense - and they left some rooms in their old-farmhouse original state. Mom wallpapered, painted and made window quilts for all the windows and quilts for all the beds.
I've moved to California for career reasons, and I'm making the house available for rental because I'd like to keep it till I'm old. It has been such a wonderful place for our family.
Elsie Dill (pictured in our house tour) is our family friend and neighbor. She is managing the cleaning and on-site care of our guests. She has years of experience in managing the Elcourt Bed and Breakfast, and lives just a few doors down from 22 Pleasant Street.
